Los Alamos Co+op Market Hires New General Manager

New Los Alamos Cooperative Market General Manager Scott Brelsford

CO+OP News:

The Los Alamos Cooperative Market Board of Directors has announced that after a national search, it has hired a new general manager.

Scott Brelsford will begin in his new role by Sept. 1. Brelsford has worked as the general manager of the Moonflower Community Cooperative in Moab, Utah and the People’s Grocery Cooperative in Manhattan, Ks. He is a co-op enthusiast, and under his leadership, Moonflower Co-op increased member ownership by 25 percent and the People’s Co-op saw a turnaround in sales and income.

The Board is confident that Brelsford’s management skills will contribute to strengthening the Los Alamos Co+op and prepare it for future challenges while staying true to cooperative principles.

The Board expresses its gratitude to Triny Vigil, the Co+op’s interim general manager, for his countless hours of hard work. He has worked well with the Board and the management team, inhanced the deli, and increased employee morale. At times, he has worn three hats: general manager, meat and cheese manager and deli cook.

Vigil and Brelsford will be working closely together to ensure a smooth transition. As Brelsford becomes familiar with store operations, Vigil will resume his position as the meat and cheese manager.

The Board thanks to the General Manager Search Committee, especially Chairwoman Megan Green.
