The Anderson and Roe Piano Duo, noted for their brilliantly choreographed performances, will open the Los Alamos Concert Association’s new season at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 in the Smith Auditorium.
Elizabeth Joy Roe and Greg Anderson met at Juilliard and formed their dynamic partnership in 2002. They have since toured extensively, with notable recitals in Beijing, Seoul, Singapore, Italy, Vancouver, as well as in nearly every New York City venue imaginable including Carnegie Hall.
Their Emmy-nominated music videos have been viewed by millions on YouTube and they have appeared on MTV’s Total Request Live, NPR’s All Things Considered, and at the Cliburn Concert Series, the Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival, and dozens of summer chamber music festivals.
Playing together at a single keyboard, the duo’s program will feature selections from An Amadeus Affair, their recent all-Mozart CD, plus their own arrangement of the Rite of Spring, a celebration of the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky’s iconic ballet score.
The concert also will be the first opportunity for many in the audience to see the newly refurbished interior of the Smith Auditorium.
“New seating, paint, carpeting and lighting will make for a fresh setting to showcase this exciting pair,” LACA Artistic Director Ann McLaughlin said. “The fun they have at the keyboard is infectious.”
As the critic for the Waco Tribune wrote, “It was one of those nights that remind you of music’s magic and the reason why we still have live performances.”
Tickets at $30 are available at CB FOX and Smith’s in both Los Alamos and White Rock and on-line through LACA’s website. Tickets at the door are $35. Students ages 6-18 are always admitted free to LACA concerts.
In addition, the box office will be offering one final opportunity for concert goers to purchase season ticket packages at substantial savings. All tickets are valid for any concert in LACA’s 2014-15 season.
