Co-Op Park News:
The new Co-Op Park team has completed the first goal of its fundraising campaign that will allow construction to start on Phase 1 of the innovative community space on 10th Street in Los Alamos.
Co-Op Park will officially open Aug. 14, thanks to the generous donors of the first phase of the GoFundMe campaign.
“I want to thank all of our donors for helping make this happen. Construction is beginning soon, and it wouldn’t happen without donors and the incredible community support we’ve received,” said Matt Schmidt, CEO of Los Alamos Schools Credit Union.
Phase 1 of the park includes a new wall, greenspace, and a community garden space.
Fundraising for Phase 2 of the project will begin later in 2021. Phase 2 will include a solar panel shade, a stage, more benches, greenery, and a community garden space.
Overall, 112 donors stepped in to help the Co-Op Park raise $24,000, with an average donation of $210.
