Los Alamos Civil Air Patrol Squadron Joins Navajo Christmas Airlift Effort To Provide Items For People In Need

Civil Air Patrol News:

The mission of the Navajo Christmas Airlift is to provide items of need, including clothing, blankets, toys, toiletries, and food for our Native American community to enhance their celebration of Christmas.

Aircraft deliver donated goods to the Navajo Nation at the Gallup, N.M. or Winslow, Ariz. airport. Donations are collected and distributed by the Southwest Indian Foundation. Participating pilots and organizations are responsible for collecting the donations.

The Los Alamos Civil Air Patrol Squadron is participating in this effort. We will also be helping with the EAA Young Eagles event from 8-11:30 a.m., Oct. 21 and will accept donations at the time.

Donations needed:

  • Gently used clothing (especially cold weather) for children, youth, or adults, cold weather coats / jackets of all sizes, stockings, shoes in very good condition,
  • Blankets, linens, pillows, towels
  • Good condition toys in working order,
  • Toiletries such as soap, shampoo, Kleenex, tooth paste / brushes, lotions,
  • Cleaning supplies, bleach, disinfectant wipes
  • Non-perishable goods: Canned meat, vegetables, fruit, dried pinto beans, cooking oil, bulk flour, bulk sugar. Paper goods: cups, plates, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
  • School supplies

If you are unable to bring items at that time, we will have a container at the airport terminal for drop off of items during normal business hours. If you need to make other arrangements, please contact Squadron Commander Orval Hart at 505.699.2673.
