The Los Alamos Chapter of the Santa Fe Opera Guild will hold its Annual Props and Costumes Event with speakers from the Santa Fe Opera at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at Fuller Lodge.

Director of the Costume Department Blair Gulledge and Director of the Props Department Eileen Garcia will discuss the challenges of creating memorable props and costumes for the Santa Fe Opera’s 2026 season.

They will bring samples to share and they always have fascinating stories to tell. Even if attendees are not opera fans, learning about how problems are solved and decisions are made is fascinating.

The Santa Fe Opera’s outdoor venue presents lots of interesting challenges for both costumes and props and the grand scale of most operas adds even more to the fun. For example, money used on stage must be weighted so it doesn’t blow away.
