BUSINESS News:
The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce and Los Alamos MainStreet have launched a new campaign called “Buy LA Local” to support local businesses and complement the State’s BuyNMLocal.com website.
The campaign allows the public to find local businesses and details for how to support them — from visiting their online store to buying gift cards.
Today marks the launch of a “Buy LA Local” video series featuring Los Alamos small business owners discussing how COVID-19 has impacted their businesses, and how the community can help.
These videos can be found on the LACDC, Chamber and MainStreet websites and Facebook channels.
“Buying gift cards now, for use at a later time, is particularly helpful for some of these businesses that have had no choice but to temporarily close due to state restrictions,” MainStreet Director Lauren McDaniel said. “While some of our local restaurants are still operating on a takeout and delivery basis, others that sell retail goods or are service-based like salons and manicurists, have little-to-no income coming in but still have expenses to cover. On top of that, many are still awaiting federal stimulus funds. They could really use community support during this difficult time.”
For those who wish to forgo a gift card purchase for themselves, may choose to instead participate in the JJAB Community Gift Card program. JJAB has partnered with several local restaurants to deliver meals to those in need. More information about how to participate can be found at https://www.losalamosjjab.com/community-gift-cardprogram.
Both Los Alamos programs also maintain a Los Alamos Business Status list and Restaurant list, which is updated regularly with business operations and hours and available on www.LosAlamosChamber.com and www.LosAlamosMainStreet.com.
