LAAC News:
Join the Los Alamos Arts Council for an enchanted Halloween as carved pumpkins are added to the scarecrow displays on Central Avenue for a bit of festive autumn fun.
The community is invited to take part in the fun by bringing a carved to the Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) booth from 2-4 p.m. Friday in front of Bennett’s Jewelers. From there, the pumpkins will be given a specific place to reside with the existing scarecrows and other select businesses downtown and in Central Park Square. Pumpkins will remain in place until 1 p.m. Sunday.
The pumpkins will not be lit this year, but their carved faces are sure to be enjoyed by all, just the same, as people do their shopping and errands on Central Avenue. By providing a “Scarecrow-Pumpkin Walk,” Los Alamos Arts Council is bringing Halloween spirit to the downtown sidewalks and local businesses of Los Alamos.
Want to some assistance to get the jack-o-lanterns just right for display? Expert pumpkin carvers Lori Dauelsberg and Lisa Lloyd will host a demonstration 7-8 p.m. Tuesday on ZOOM. They will demonstrate the artful, artistic carving of pumpkins that they have done over the years. Please tune in to get some great tips, ideas and ask questions, then get busy carving pumpkins! Register in advance here. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Additionally, there will be a virtual pumpkin carving party 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Everyone will carve their own pumpkins during this holiday carving gala. Become inspired by what others are doing. For even more fun, wear a costume! Register in advance to join the free virtual session.
