LAARC News:

The Los Alamos Amateur Radio Club (LAARC) will meet at 8 p.m. Friday, April 11 in the Club Meeting Room upstairs at 4017 Arkansas.

This month’s agenda:

  • Discussion on LAARC’s new 501(c) (3) charity organization status and its registration with Los Alamos National Laboratory’s matching system for donations;
  • Plans for providing communications support at the upcoming Jemez Mountain Trail Runs event in May; and
  • How LAARC might support civilian (non-ham) communications during telecommunications outages like the recent ones impacting the county.

LAARC’s regular meetings review the state of amateur radio frequencies, repeaters, long distance propagation, and emergency support equipment. Current and upcoming efforts to support amateur radio and emergency response services in Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico are covered as well.

There are a large number of hams in Los Alamos. Any current licensees, or folks just interested in how amateur radio works in general, this is the time and place to be – LAARC hopes to see you there!
