Local Triathlon Training Open To All

TMC News:

The Splash ‘n Dash series starts June 26 as a training event for the Los Alamos Triathlon, which occurs Aug. 17.

Triatomics Multisport Club and the Los Alamos County Recreation Department hosts the annual event.

Splash ‘n Dash will occur every other Wednesday leading up to the Los Alamos Triathlon.

Swimmers, runners, beginning multisport athletes, seasoned triathletes or anyone interested can participate in either the 400 yard swim, followed by a 5K run along Canyon Road up to Diamond Drive and along the front of Los Alamos High School and down Orange Street (all right hand turns going out and never in traffic.) Or the 200 yard swim, followed by a 3K run along Canyon Road and along the front of the high school. Both begin at the Larry Walkup Aquatic Center on Canyon Road.

Registration for all distances begins at 6:20 p.m. and closes at 6:55 p.m., with the first swimmer sent off at 7 p.m. sharp. The event is limited to the first 75 registrants, due to time and space constraints.

This is a free training event. Registration will be at the back or north side of the Aquatic Center.

New this year, is an even shorter course for the youngest athletes – a 100 yard swim followed by a quick run along the Canyon Road sidewalk. A Triatomics Youth Group is being organized, aimed at getting as many kids as possible interested in multi-sport activities, without any pressure.
