CHARGER AQUATICS News:
Swimmers from the Charger Aquatics – Los Alamos team competed this past weekend (April 26-28) in the 2013 Colorado TOPS Spring Open meet at the University of Denver.
This was their first long-course meet for the upcoming summer season. The swimmers had some good swims, but the highlight of the trip was getting to meet 2012 Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin, whose club team also was participating in the competition.
Charger swimmers also made a splash at the 2013 Chargers Pentathlon/Decathlon meet that was held at Albuquerque Academy April 20–21. Four of the best teams in New Mexico – Charger Aquatics, Lobo Aquatic Club, Vipers of Albuquerque Swim Club and Swim Rio Ranch – swam in either five or 10 events depending on age.
Four of the Los Alamos Charger swimmers earned top honors for their age group in this competition including Kaan Unal (13-year-old boys), Takuma Shiina (9-year-old boys), Orion Henderson (8-year-old boys) and Takashi Shiina (7 & under boys.)
