COMMUNITY News:

The First United Methodist Church has been working on a bridge building effort with some community organizations.

“During my interview with Los Alamos Police Department, I learned through Ofc. Adele Girmendonk that Aspen Elementary did a survey and discovered that there were many children riding their bikes to school who did not have helmets,” volunteer Pamela Hundley said. “Officer Girmendonk asked if I could help by providing helmets for each of the five elementary schools and the staff would determine which children were in need.”

Smith’s Marketplace Community Specialist Kathryn Fulton arranged for Smith’s to provide 15 helmets (three per school). The remainder will be purchased by the First United Methodist Church at cost, Hundley said.

“I would very much like to give LAPD and Smith’s a pat on the back for doing so much for the community,” Hundley said.
