Local Athletes Represent Team New Mexico At Wrestling Competition

From left, Los Alamos High School Women’s Head Wrestling Coach Emily Tew, Gala Nelson, Jackson Blair and LAHS Boy’s Head Wrestling Coach Paul Wilson take part in the Turf Wars held this week in Farmington, Utah. Nelson and Blair wrestled for Team New Mexico at Turf Wars. The boys team went 2-3 in Greco and 2-2 in Freestyle, finishing 6th and 7th respectively. The girls team went 0-5 in Greco and 2-3 in Freestyle.  ‘Nelson and Blair represented the state of New Mexico and the town of Los Alamos well,’ Coach Tew said. ‘This girls team made history by being the first New Mexico Girls team to win a duel at the Turf Wars Competition. Competing at this event took a lot of dedication and preparation and we are very proud of these athletes!’ Courtesy photo
