Sunday Aug. 5 in Los Alamos:
- Rally in Ashley Pond Park, Los Alamos, speakers, music, teach-ins and information
- Audio link to the sounding of the Peace Bell in Hiroshima, Japan (5:15 p.m.)
- “Sackcloth and Ashes” peace march to LANL led by Pax Christi, New Mexico (5:20 p.m.)
- Floating of peace lanterns on Ashley Pond (following peace march)
Monday Aug. 6 in Los Alamos:
- A full day of non-violent direct action in Los Alamos beginning at 7 a.m. with a protest at LANL.
A large turnout of anti-nuclear activists was expected to demonstrate and protest at Ashley Pond and Los Alamos National Laboratory beginning at noon Sunday and during Monday’s 67th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki.
Marcus Page-Collonge of the Trinity Nuclear Abolition (TNA) Group in Albuqueruqe said to expect activists from TNA, Occupy Albuquerque and Occupy Santa Fe, Concerned Citizens for Nuclear Safety, Nuke Free Now among many other groups to demonstrate.
