Library To Host Evening With Española Mayor Vigil Oct. 3

COUNTY News:

Española Mayor John Ramon Vigil will sit down 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at Mesa Public Library for a discussion about being a young Hispanic leader during Hispanic Heritage Month at the Los Alamos Public Library.

As the youngest person to serve on the Española city council at age 22, and later elected Mayor at 26, Vigil has been a part of the evolving culture and heritage of young Hispanics in northern New Mexico. We will discuss bringing his fresh new ideas and perspectives to his positions in government while holding on to his heritage and cultural traditions.

The 2024 National Hispanic Heritage Month theme is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together”. The community is invited to visit Mesa Public Library or White Rock Branch Library and ask a librarian to find titles that speak to this important perspective.
