COUNTY News:

Both branches of the Los Alamos Public Library invite families to ring in the new year early with the annual Noon Year’s Eve celebration Wednesday, Dec. 31. The free program runs from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

The annual Noon Year’s Eve celebration offers families with younger children a chance to celebrate at a kid-friendly hour. This year, as a new offering, the White Rock Branch will introduce a low-sensory option designed for children who prefer a calmer environment.

“Every year, we party at midday so kids don’t have to stay up until midnight,” Youth Librarian Melissa Mackey said. “Our goal is to create real party vibes that feel festive and fun for kids.”

At Mesa Public Library, the celebration will feature music, dancing, and a noon countdown with a balloon drop in the rotunda, along with crafts and games before the countdown.

The White Rock Branch celebration will focus on crafts and game stations in a quieter setting, without loud music or overhead surprises, allowing children to participate at their own pace.

Families attending either location are encouraged to dress up in costumes or festive attire and join in the celebration. The program is best suited for children ages 4 to 10 and their caregivers.
