Letter To The Editor: Time To Improve Our More Than 50 Year Old White Rock Schools

By CRAIG WASHNOK

Principal, Chamisa Elementary School

I have the pleasure of becoming  the next principal at Chamisa Elementary School.

It has been a truly amazing experience. The community culture is one of the best aspects of Chamisa. Our community is what makes Chamisa unique. Chamisa Elementary School’s culture is entwined with the community.

The culture of Chamisa has stood the test of time. It’s now time to enhance the culture of Chamisa with structural upgrades.

Both Chamisa and Pinon elementary schools have stood relatively unchanged for over 50 years. Chamisa continues to house upper team students in portables. The upper team portables have been in place since the 1970’s. It’s time to upgrade the facilities at both White Rock elementary schools.

Please take time to vote YES to the upcoming bond to help upgrade the White Rock schools.

The bond will not increase tax rates. It will help foster and grow the incredible community and reputation of Los Alamos Public Schools. As a father of a 4th grade student myself, I want her educational career here in Los Alamos the best possible.

Early voting has already begun. The last day to vote is Nov. 5. It’s about our children’s future.
