Over the past month, the Salvation Army bells have been ringing in Los Alamos and White Rock.
Thanks to our generous community, the bell ringers raised just shy of $20,000, all of which is used to help families in Los Alamos County.
The organizers are extremely appreciative of Smith’s hospitatility in welcoming the bell ringers both in White Rock (Manager Cindy Doty) and Los Alamos (Kathryn Fulton and Dan). Thanks also to the individual musicians, the Lads of Enchantment, and the Ukulele group who provided holiday cheer.
Kudos to the volunteers from the Betty Ehart Senior Center/LAVA, Linda Boncella who organized the effort along with Self Help staff, as well as Song Li Morris and Morrie Pongratz of LAHS Key Club. Special thanks to Mike and Jan Donnelly who made sure things ran smoothly in White Rock and to Irene Powell, Jim Little and Dick Tatro who oversaw the Los Alamos bell ringing.
Thank yous go to volunteers from Bethehem Lutheran Church, Zia Realty Group, United Way of Northern New Mexico, Smith’s and Aspen Ridge/Sombrillo and to the many individuals who helped. Appreciation goes to the youngest volunteers for ringing the bells; it is wonderful that children can share in the experience of helping our community.
Carol and Bonnie of the LA Daily Post … thanks for your coverage of the Salvation Army effort!
