As a middle school teacher excited about the beautiful new building we will soon be moving into, I attended the special board meet last Friday, Aug. 23. The board made a thoughtful and careful decision about our move in date, Sept. 17. I especially want to thank the board, and our principal, Rex Kilburn, for giving us one extra day to move in, and collaborate with other teachers with whom we will be sharing classrooms.
More than that, however, as a Jew, I want to thank the board for acknowledging the date of our High Holiday, Yom Kippur, and that it coincides with our packing and moving time. Please know that we are deeply appreciative of having that extra day to pack and move, as that gives us time to be able to observe Yom Kippur, the holiest day in our Jewish year. Thank you.
