The 2nd Annual Fiesta Los Alamos was celebrated in August. The Rotary STARS, with the support of our community, made this event a success. A special thanks goes to our Gold Sponsors: Blue Window Bistro, Bennett’s Fine Jewelry & Gifts and D.L. Lawrence “Images of Fine Light” for their generous contributions and support.

The event had three Silver Sponsors that included Buffalo Thunder, Zia Credit Union and the Los Alamos Daily Post. The support for this event was overwhelming. The following are the other sponsors who collectively donated more than $8,000 worth of items for the live and silent auction, as well as, items used during our event.

Please make sure to support these amazing businesses and individuals who gave generously:  Lou Santoro State Farm, CB FOX Department Store, The Finishing Touch, Paulina Gwaltney Photography, Skip and Linda King, Linda Hull, Ruby K’s Bagel Cafe, Float Los Alamos, Jazdia’s Jewels, Bob’s Bodacious BBQ, Morning Glory, Nambe Drugs, Rigobertos, Violas, Vivac Winery, Bathtub Row Brewing, Katy Korkos, Legacy Now Lived/ LeAnne Parsons, Ameriprise Financial Services/Trish Gallegos, Gary DeRosier, Michael Erickson, Laura Loy, Gloria Brehm, Karen Easton, Metzgers Do It Best – Hardware Stores, Pig + Fig, Bandelier National Monument, Fuller Lodge Art Center, Reel Deal Movie Theater, Brenda Kelley, Fusion Multisport, Papa Murphy’s, Pet Pangaea, Homerun Pizza, Admiral Distribution, Black Mesa Massage, Coca Cola, Del Norte Credit Union, Nu2U Consignment, LA Tan & More, Ulis Clothing Boutique, Vintage Hair, PAC 8, Derek Selvage, Ellen BenNaim, Time Out Pizzeria, Linda Boncella, New Mexico Wine Tours, Zia Realty Group, the Los Alamos Rotary Club and the Los Alamos Rotary Interact Club.

The Los Alamos Rotary Club set up the outdoor tent that allowed us to have our event “rain or shine”. The newly formed Interact Club organized all of the children’s events to the joy of parents and their children. Interact also helped out throughout the entire evening.

The Mexican themed dinner and bar were provided by The Blue Window Bistro. Owner Melissa Paternoster once again out did herself. Her staff, the food selection and the overall presentation of the buffet for our Fiesta were beyond amazing! Thank you!

Throughout the evening, the guests enjoyed the Mariachi music by Trio Los Amigos de New Mexico. The colorful dance performance by Danza Azteca de Anahuac was a highlight of the evening.

Our auctioneer and local fire breather/juggler, Jeff Favorite, did a phenomenal job. A bidding war broke out over the Los Alamos Daily Post advertising package and owner/publisher Carol Clark doubled her donation so that the two top bidders both received the awesome auction item. The evening ended with a beginner’s salsa lesson thanks to Robby, Amy and Ashlynn.

I know there have been many wonderful articles for this event, but I wanted to thank all the generous donors, volunteers, entertainers and the STARS members again for making this such a special evening. Thank you to the Los Alamos Daily Post, KRSN, LAVA, the Los Alamos Monitor, LA Living Magazine, FYI LA, and Aspen Copies for helping us promote this fundraiser event.

Los Alamos is a special community filled with people who choose to serve others with no expectation of recognition. Please support these wonderful businesses. They are the lifeline of our community.

Thanks again! We look forward to seeing you next year.
