Letter To The Editor: Supporting David Hampton For UNM-LA Advisory Board

By BRANDI ENGEMAN
Los Alamos

I am writing in support of David Hampton for the UNM-LA Advisory Board in the upcoming election.

I have known David in a personal and professional capacity for four years. In that time, I have seen him give himself to this community through his service on various boards and commissions, through his dedication to the nonprofits in the community, and in his tireless service and volunteerism.

David takes a reasonable and ethical approach to decision making; listening carefully and diligently to the community he serves before making a choice that will impact them.

David understands the role of the Advisory Board, and the constraints that they are often under, and this is also a critical component of serving. Knowing what your limitations are as a public servant before you agree to serve, and helping to navigate the limitations while still promoting the best interests of all parties can be tricky.

David’s long-time advocacy for public and higher education and the betterment of Los Alamos shows in everything he does and we would all be well-served with him continuing on the Advisory Board in January. I believe that David is one of the true good ones who does the service work he does, not out of desire to be recognized, but because he believes in a better future for everyone and that is why I am asking that you vote for him in this election.

For transparency’s sake, David Hampton does serve on the Board of Directors of the Los Alamos Arts Council, at which I am an employee. I am writing this in my personal capacity only, and my opinions are my own and do not reflect those of the organization I am employed by, nor are they influenced by this employment.
