Letter To The Editor: Apology To Snow And Ice Crew

Last week I wrote a letter to the editor about snow on the sidewalks.

My letter was written partly in jest and partly in frustration. I was remembering the times, as Los Alamos County Public Works director, when I would be criticized for things that were out of my control by residents who did not have all of the facts. 

I did the thing that I hate. I wrote a letter without getting the facts. The sidewalk plows were broken down. The plows are from Canada and very difficult to get parts. I remember when parts would be taken from one broken plow to fix another plow just to keep one running. 

Since I criticized them in a public forum, I will make my apology public. The snow and ice crews are dedicated hard working public servants who deserve thanks not criticism. I am truly sorry.
