There have been several letters to the editor who wonder why the rec bond is an all or nothing proposition. I suspect that the answer is that no one of these items could pass by itself in a bond referendum. 

 

If you want more recreational opportunities, then you are going to have to support more recreational opportunities for your neighbors as well.

 

There also seems to be a sentiment that if we vote this down, then the county will come back with something more “reasonable”. I think that is extremely unlikely. People put in a lot of time and effort putting this package together. I doubt that they will be inclined to go through that process again.

 

Several years ago we had a bond issue to build a performing arts center. People thought that it was too extravagant and too expensive. It got voted down. It never got revived in any form.

 

If this bond gets voted down, you can expect to get nothing. People should make their decisions based on those expectations.
