Letter To The Editor: A Vote For HB33 Is A Vote For Our Community

The overall health of our community is closely tied to the health and vitality of our local public schools. It’s true. Would you move to a town where your children could not get a quality education? I didn’t.

A vote in favor of the Los Alamos Public Schools Referendum (House Bill 33) is a vote in favor of our community. The funding received as a result of this Referendum means that the children in our community are our priority. Over the years, Referendum funds have supported major maintenance projects, student technology, music and physical educationequipment and activities/athletic buses, just to name a few.  A vote in favor of this Referendum means we value public education and we value the future health of our county.

Many years ago, my wife and I chose to reside in Los Alamos, to work and raise our family here. This decision was due in large part to the excellent public education that LAPS provided our kids, which the schools did in spades. Vote with me in favor of the Referendum and continue to make quality public education a vital part of our way of life.

The tax-rate on to property owners will not increase as a result of the LAPS Referendum.
