Letter From LAPS Superintendent Dr. Kurt Steinhaus

LAPS Superintendent Dr. Kurt Steinhaus

Letter from Superintendent Dr. Kurt Steinhaus:

Dear Los Alamos Public Schools Students, Parents, and Community Members,

As I reflect on the many things for which I am thankful, I want to take this opportunity to share a message of gratitude for the wonderful people who make up Los Alamos Public Schools.

I am thankful for our students who turn Los Alamos schools into vibrant and diverse centers of learning and discovery – you give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. I am thankful for the support of parents and community in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. I am thankful for the teachers, instructional assistants, support staff, administrators, and all who have the best interest of our students at heart.

I am also thankful for our volunteers who enthusiastically contribute so much to our schools. Among the people who volunteer their precious time are members of the School Board, who set the vision and direction for the Los Alamos Public Schools. We thank you!

As part of celebrating Thanksgiving, let’s also remember that, a few weeks ago, we recognized and honored our Veterans. There are many LAPS staff and community members who have served or are serving our country through military service. We are also surrounded by those who work at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Let’s take a few moments to think about these honorable men and women, some who are far away from home. I am thankful for their willingness to guarantee the freedoms that we sometimes take for granted.

The quote below has special meaning in my life because I can still remember taking a picture of President Kennedy during his special visit to Los Alamos. On behalf of the Los Alamos School Board and everyone at LAPS, I wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving Holiday. Enjoy!

Best wishes,

Kurt Steinhaus
