NOTICE
Los Alamos National Laboratory announces its intent to apply to the New Mexico Environment Department
for an air quality permit to construct a Quarrying, Crushing and Screening Facility under General Construction Permit (GCP) 2. The name of this facility is Tufa Pit Crusher. The expected date of the submittal of our application for an air quality permit to the Air Quality Bureau is October 31, 2025. This notice is a requirement
according to New Mexico air quality regulations.
The exact location of the facility will be 35.871031, -106.289980. The approximate location of this site is 0.5
miles south of Los Alamos in Los Alamos County.
Air emissions of any regulated air contaminant will be less than or equal to:
Tons per year (TPY)
Total Suspended Particulates 24.8
Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) 1.3
Carbon Monoxide (CO) 6.9
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) 0.3
Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) 2.2
Any one (1) Hazardous Air Pollutant (HAP) 0.003
Sum of all Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) 0.011
The standard operating schedule of this facility will be “during daylight hours only.”
