The CO is a settlement agreement between the NMED and DOE that was issued in 2016 and was modified in 2024.

The investigation and remediation of contamination from legacy waste at LANL is conducted under the CO. The CO both guides and governs the ongoing cleanup of legacy waste at LANL through a campaign-based approach and the annual planning process. The annual planning process allows for revisions to cleanup campaigns based on actual work progress, changed conditions and funding.

NMED will host the meeting and EM-LA will present information concerning cleanup work completed in federal fiscal year (FFY) 2025 and the cleanup milestones and target dates for FFY 2026. The Appendix B of the CO, which includes the FFY 2026 milestones and targets, is available on the NMED website under the Compliance Order on Consent at: https://www.env.nm.gov/hazardous-waste/lanl-2016-consent-order/

Should you need additional information regarding the public meeting, please contact Caitlin Martinez at Caitlin.martinez@env.nm.gov or at (505) 490-5280.

LANL HAZARDOUS WASTE FACILITY PERMIT MAILING LIST

NMED is required by regulation to maintain a Facility Mailing List as part of its oversight of the (LANL) Waste Facility Permit (Permit). NMED uses this list to inform stakeholders, including interested members of the public, of comment periods for permit modification requests and draft permits, and final NMED administrative actions on permit decisions, etc. If you wish to add your name to NMED’s LANL Facility Mailing List, please notify Siona Briley by email at HWB-LANL-Mailing@env.nm.gov, or by postal mail at Siona Briley, New Mexico Environment Department-Hazardous Waste Bureau, 2905 Rodeo Park East, Bldg. 1, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
