Learn To Make Traditional New Mexican Straw Appliqué Artwork At Los Luceros Historic Site Workshop July 27

The Northern Río Grande National Heritage Area is offering a straw appliqué workshop with Gabriela Silva 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 27 at Los Luceros Historic Site.

What: Presented by Northern Rio Grande National Heritage Area (NRGNHA), and held at Los Luceros Historic Site, this workshop teaches the traditional art of straw appliqué.

This class aims to honor this New Mexican tradition by recreating the classic black with natural straw appliqué, employing the same techniques mastered by these artisans of old. Light snacks and drinks will be provided. The workshop is $50/person and registration is online.

Participants will learn the history behind straw appliqué art and learn to use traditional techniques in this workshop.
