Learn About Two Recent NASA Solar Missions Feb. 22

NMDCA News:

Learn all about NASA’s two most recent missions to the Sun at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science (NMMNHS) with ParkerPunchPalooza 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Feb. 22.

ParkerPunchPalooza lets visitors explore a pair of NASA solar missions – the NASA PUNCH mission and the Parker Solar Probe – with hands-on activities and back-to-back presentations from NASA researchers.

Learn about both missions through handouts and giveaways and enjoy all-ages solar activities and demos from local teachers who are working with the Johns Hopkins Space Exploration Maker-Place Program. Plus, catch a special preview of the PUNCH Mission and Launch by PUNCH mission scientists, including NMMNHS researchers.

Starting at 1 p.m., catch a pair of special planetarium shows exploring the two missions. Both planetarium shows include talks by scientists associated with the missions.

This event and both planetarium shows are included in museum admission. ParkerPunchPalooza is included in February sponsored attendance for Valencia County residents and Isleta Pueblo members, courtesy of Meta’s Los Lunas Data Center. Learn more about the event, and both NASA missions, HERE.

Special guests include a trio of solar researchers: Dr. E.K. (Manolis) Georgoulis (Parker Solar Probe Science Team Member), Dr. Chris Lowder (PUNCH team member), and John Wirzburger (Parker Solar Probe Team Member).

It’s a chance to learn about a pair of NASA missions that will help better understand the Sun.
