THE HIVE NEWS:
Wes Myers will present his idea for the “Urban Micro-Farm System,” a modular, expandable approach to vertical gardening at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 at the brown-bag lunch at the Hive, 134 N.M. 4 in White Rock. Myers is a LANL retiree. The meeting is open to the public at no charge.
The urban micro-farm system offers the potential to grow quantities of many types of vegetables, herbs and other plants inside a footprint less than one-quarter to one-half of that required for a conventional row-based garden.
This could allow city and suburban dwellers to grow food on balconies, decks, and patios—and do so efficiently using simple hand tools and with less physical effort.
