League Holds Primary Election Candidates’ Forum May 14

LWVLA News:

The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos is holding a candidates’ forum at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 14 at Fuller Lodge, with refreshments and a chance to meet the candidates at 6:30 p.m.

Candidates who have opposition in the primary election of June 3 are invited to appear at the forum.

They are as follows:

  • U.S. Congressional District 3: Democratic candidate Robert Blanch; Ben Ray Lujan is unable to attend.
  • NM House District 43 Republican candidates: Vincent Chiravalle and Geoff Rodgers
  • 1st Judicial District Position 6 Democratic candidates: Yvonne Quintana, David Thomson and Matthew Justin Wilson
  • Los Alamos County Council Democratic candidates: Edward Birnbaum, Andrea Cunningham, David Izraelevitz, Susan O’Leary and Michael Redondo

Many other offices will appear on both the Republican and the Democratic ballots, but these are the regional contests that pertain to Los Alamos. Sample ballots for both parties will be available at the forum.

After their opening statements, candidates will have questions directed to them by the League and the audience.

These are important offices and the League hopes many members of the community will attend the forum to listen to all the candidates and become informed voters.
