LLA News:

Leadership Los Alamos held their final session before graduation on April 24. The class explored culture in Los Alamos. Session Co-chairs Kristen Hollis and Patrick Moore led a lively morning session looking at community, culture, and leadership. Kirsten Bell led activities examining our thoughts based on surface impressions and the realities which may lie beneath.

Following lunch catered by El Parasol, the class embarked on a walking tour of downtown Los Alamos. Stops along the way included short talks with leaders at many of the places visited. Stops included the Oppenheimer and Groves statues, Los Alamos Visitor Center, Los Alamos Teen Center, Manhattan Project National Park, Bradbury Science Museum and the Family Y.

Additionally, the class was treated to brownies and cookies at Sugar + Cream and to Mexican coffee and flautas at Muy Salsas. Along the route, there were discussions about the history of our downtown buildings. A highlight of the walk was a stop in front of the old CB Fox location for a discussion with Anne Fox and Andy Fox about their long history in that location.

The cohort met the town’s original Main Street Director, Carolyn Shipley, and learned about the origins of her position. The afternoon concluded at the VFW with a social event for the cohort, board and alumni of the program.

The 2025-2026 Leadership Los Alamos program will wrap up on May 8 with a day of activities followed by a graduation ceremony. Applications for the 2026-2027 cohort will become available in May.
