LLA News:

Leadership Los Alamos (LLA) held a Community Organizations session Friday, Jan. 10 at Fuller Lodge, featuring insights from key local nonprofit leaders.

The session was co-led by three executive directors including Jillian Rubio from Pajarito Environmental Educator Center, Jordan Redmond of Los Alamos Family Council and Jacci Gruninger of Los Alamos Retired & Senior Organization.

The event commenced with a Leadership Development presentation on communication techniques by Judith Gordon, an accomplished attorney and executive coach who teaches law at UCLA. Gordon’s  expertise provided valuable guidance on effective communication, setting the stage for the day’s discussions.

Following the presentation, Leadership Los Alamos students engaged in a thorough exploration of the needs within the Los Alamos community, gaining an in-depth understanding of local nonprofits. The students had the unique opportunity to interact directly with executive directors from five nonprofit organizations, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and insights.

Joining the panel were Ellen Specter from First Born Program of Los Alamos and Jack Allison, RN of the Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service, who contributed to the dialogue. Together, they answered questions from LLA participants shedding light on vital services their organizations provide to the community.

“This session was an invaluable experience for our students, connecting them with the leaders of organizations that make a significant impact in our community,” Rubio said. “It’s essential for emerging leaders to understand the role of nonprofits and how they can contribute to betterment of the community.

Leadership Los Alamos remains committed to developing future leaders who are informed and engaged in their community. The Community Organizations session exemplifies this mission, equipping participants with the knowledge and connections necessary to effect positive change.”
