Alumni Bernadette Lauritzen

How many years have you lived and/or worked in Los Alamos?

Twenty-seven years

Why did you enroll in LLA?

It sounded like a wonderful thing to try and there is a scholarship program.

What was your biggest “take away” from the class?

Spending time with Rick Reiss and seeing kind and leadership could be combined quite easily. Also saying to Marla Brooks, “When will I ever leave without a list of so many ideas…” and she replied, “I hope never.”

What are you doing with what you learned?

I started my own non-profit Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA) and we started the Community Assets Awards and the big award is named for Alumni, former County Councilor, Jim West, the Spirit of the West Award.
