The Santa Fe Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which includes three wards in Los Alamos County (Los Alamos, Pajarito and White Rock Wards) is sponsoring a Preparedness Fair, titled “Oil in Your Lamp.”

The Fair is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at the White Rock Building of the LDS Church, 366 Grand Canyon Dr. in White Rock. The event is free and open to everyone.

The Preparedness Fair will include demonstrations, information booths and displays. The Los Alamos Fire Department will be present with a fire engine and LAFD employees demonstrating first aid and talking about the recent changes to CPR.

Los Alamos County will have a booth for people to sign up or update their information in the Code Red program. The Family YMCA donated a free one month membership, which will be given away in a free drawing.

A financial advisor from Edward Jones of Santa Fe will have an informational booth covering debt elimination, savings planning, home inventories, planning for big expenses like college and retirement. A bread making demonstration, from grinding the grain to eating the bread, will occur in the kitchen. On the back lawn, there will also be a demonstration of baking bread on a gas grill.
