September is National Senior Center Month and while the month may be half over, our local centers have a lot of great things ahead.

This Friday Sept. 17, the White Rock Senior Center will host a car show 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and there is no fee. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award.

Monday Sept. 20 at 4:30 p.m., join White Rock residents Martin and Bev Cooper as they take us on a trip to “meet” the Nepali people from Katmandu. Come enjoy this online presentation of the Cooper’s trip to the Annapurna Range, high mountain landscapes and architecture of this primarily Hindu and secondarily Buddhist country. Email director@losalamosseniorcenter.com for a link to this presentation

Tuesday Sept. 21, our old friend Tina will return to trim toenails at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The cost is $25 and those interested can schedule an appointment by calling 505.662-8920. White Rock will host the same event Tuesday Sept. 28, call 505.672.2034 to schedule there.

Our community partner Nambe Drugs will host the senior centers with two opportunities for drive by flu-shots. The events will take place noon to 2 p.m., Sept. 28 in Los Alamos and Sept. 30 in White Rock. No need to register, just come with your identification and insurance card.

As always, if you have any questions, call the center of your choice. The Los Alamos Retired and Senior Organization (LARSO) also has a new website at www.larso.org.
