The New Mexico Museum of Space History’s (NMMSH) monthly Launch Pad Lecture features the story of NASA’s Apollo 12 mission, where lightning struck seconds after launch, but teamwork turned potential failure into one of the most precise lunar landings.
Presented by Marie De Leon, Senior Instructional Coordinator at the New Mexico Museum of Space History, starting at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7.
- Where: New Horizons Dome Theater, New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo.
- Details: Admission is free, and coffee and donuts will be provided. The presentation will explore Apollo 12’s challenges and achievements, highlighting how teamwork and innovation propelled lunar science forward through experiments at the Surveyor 3 site.
- About the speaker: Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Marie De Leon holds degrees in psychology and school psychology. Since joining the museum two years ago, she has inspired curiosity and enthusiasm for space history through educational programs and lectures.
