Due to the large volume of material placed out for collection, the spring pickup is running a week or so behind schedule. The County appreciates the public’s patience and ask that they feel free to call 662-8163 with any questions.
Brush and Bulk Item Collection
A program offered to residents with curbside refuse collection four times a year in order to assist with the disposal of bulky items and yard waste (branches, leaves, pine needles, etc.) Christmas trees are also accepted during the winter collection.
Who can participate?
Los Alamos County residents with curbside refuse collection, this excludes apartment dwellers and businesses.
Households who pay a monthly refuse bill can put items out.
What can I put out?
ONLY brush, furniture, mattresses and large appliances. All leaves and pine needles must be bagged. Only one pickup permitted per house.
All other items are not accepted and if placed at the curb they will be tagged. Tags will provide info on how to properly dispose of items. Materials generated from all contracted services are also unacceptable for collection.
When do I put items out?
All items must be placed out by 8 a.m. on the date of collection for your address. Items placed out late will not be collected.
All items will not be collected on the exact day of set out due to the large area that needs to be covered. See right side bar for dates for upcoming collections.
Where do i put items out?
Place items at curb near where you place roll carts.
Do not set items under power lines or trees, near landscaping, close to mailboxes, or far from the curb.
