LAPSA News:
The Los Alamos Public Safety Association (LAPSA) has recognized Alexander Suazo as its 2022 LAPSA Scholarship recipient. Los Alamos Police Cmdr. and LAPSA Treasurer Daniel Roberts presented Suazo with the award at the organization’s October meeting. The $500 scholarship is awarded annually.
Northern New Mexico residents pursuing degrees in criminal justice, fire science, emergency management or emergency medical services at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos are eligible to apply. Scholarship funds are paid toward tuition costs for selected students.
Suazo is studying Fire Science and anticipates obtaining his degree in fall 2023. He chose to continue his education because of his passion for firefighting and his desire to equip himself to serve as a leader in his field. In addition to his coursework, Suazo is a firefighter with the City of Española Fire Department and has 12 years of service as a volunteer firefighter with the Santa Clara Pueblo Fire Department. His future aspirations include increasing fire prevention resources and awareness in his community.
