Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) has announced that the tradition of excellence continues as the LAPS Transportation Department had its fleet of buses pass a recent bus inspection by a State Safety Inspector with flying colors.

Twice a year, the State of New Mexico requires all school buses to be inspected for safety compliance. A State Inspector is brought in to do those inspections. Once again, this spring, every Los Alamos Public Schools bus passed the bumper-to-bumper inspection with no reportable issues.

“It has been years since there has been a school bus fail a safety inspection here in the district,” Transportation Director Keith Rosenbaum said.

This tradition of inspection excellence is a result of the diligence that each bus driver has to ensure the school bus is safe to drive prior to leaving on route. In addition, the wisdom and experience of the district’s mechanic, Matt Romero, in using his skills to fix anything that may put a school bus out of service, keeps the fleet in tip top shape.

“All credit for these excellent inspections goes to the team of transportation employees,” Rosenbaum said. “They are dedicated to safety for the students of Los Alamos Public Schools.”
