LAPS Students Qualify For New Mexico State Spelling Bee

Two Los Alamos Public Schools students are among 25 champions who have qualified to compete in the New Mexico State Spelling Bee.

Julia Zou, a 7th grader at Los Alamos Middle School and Rebekah Scott, a 6th grader at Aspen Elementary School, will compete in the State Spelling Bee Saturday, April 1 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in the Pete Domenici Education Building.

They placed first and second, respectively, at the District Spelling Bee held in January.

The winner will represent New Mexico in May in the 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
