LAPS Hosts Informational Meeting Via Zoom For Potential School Board Candidates Monday Aug. 23

The election for the Los Alamos School Board is Tuesday, Nov. 2. and four seats are on the ballot.

Four seats on the ballot include:

  • District 1 (Pinon Elementary), Position 1 Board Member;
  • District 2 (Chamisa Elementary), Position 2 Board Member;
  • District 4 (Barranca Elementary and Los Alamos Middle School), Position 4 Board Member; and
  • District 5 (Mountain Elementary and Los Alamos High School), Position 5 Board Member.

All positions are four-year terms.

Anyone interested in running for a seat on the Los Alamos School Board is invited to attend an informational meeting via Zoom, noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, to learn what this position entails.

Current School Board members will be in attendance to answer questions about board roles and responsibilities. Los Alamos County Clerk Naomi Maestas also will attend the meeting to provide information and answer questions about filing.

Candidate Filing Day for the Los Alamos Public School District is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Avenue.
