LAPS FOUNDATION News:
The Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation would like to put a call out to all Los Alamos High School (LAHS) alumni to connect with the organization via its website, www.lapsfoundation.com/alumni. The LAPS Foundation wants to hear what alumni have been up to, tell them about all that’s going on at LAHS in present day, and offer benefits to them as alumni.
The LAPS Foundation supports alumni in a number of ways, including hosting tours of the renovated LAHS campus for class reunions. The LAPS Foundation also has a big project in the works to make LAHS yearbooks available in digital format online.
“We’ve had a lot of alumni tell us that they have lost their yearbooks over the years,” said LAPS Foundation Executive Director Laura Loy. “This is a way for us to help alumni stay connected and have their yearbooks available to them at any time.”
LAHS alumni are invited to visit www.lapsfoundation.com/alumni to sign up for the quarterly alumni newsletter, so that they can stay updated several times a year on happenings at their alma matter.
“Since we put out the call to alumni via email and social media last week, we’ve received messages from a number of individuals who have graduated LAHS,” Loy said. “It’s been wonderful to hear their memories from high school and to learn where they are now.”
The Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation is an independent organization that supports, challenges, and invests in a successful future for all Los Alamos public school students. Since its inception in 2005, the LAPS Foundation has donated more than $1 million to fund opportunities and materials for students, provide professional development for district educators, defray operating expenses, and assist with capital improvements to enrich learning environments in the Los Alamos public schools.
The Foundation raises money through generous contributions from individuals and organizations who share the Foundation’s core values that excellent public education is every child’s right, and that excellent public education systems depend on: a well-informed and supportive community, caring and competent educators, a supportive and responsive school environment, and sufficient financing to achieve educational goals.
