LAPS FOUNDATION News:

The Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation and CB FOX Department Store have partnered to offer t-shirts to Los Alamos High School alumni.

There are two versions, which are on sale now in the men’s and women’s departments at the store at 1735 Central Ave., in downtown Los Alamos.

The high-quality shirts cost $29.98, and proceeds benefit all public schools in Los Alamos through the LAPS Foundation.

“The LAPS Foundation has offered alumni t-shirts in the past which were very popular,” LAPS Foundation Executive Director Laura Loy said. “We wanted to make them available again, but we didn’t want to tie ourselves up with offering merchandise, because that takes us away from our mission of filling a funding gap in the schools. When I approached Andy Fox of CB FOX, who also is a LAHS alumnus, he was very agreeable to working with us on this endeavor.”

Loy added that the two organizations worked quickly to have the shirts in stock in time for graduation gifts and high school reunions, which mostly take place in the summer months.

The LAPS Foundation supports all public schools in the district, so the proceeds of the shirts will be spread amongst all of the schools.

The LAPS Foundation focuses on three main areas:

  • Funding classroom materials and resources to support teachers’ innovative ideas;
  • Enabling teachers to take advantage of important professional development opportunities; and
  • Providing inspiring learning environments within schools. The LAPS Foundation has infused more than $1 million into Los Alamos Public Schools since 2005.
