LAPS New:

  • What could you do for our schools if you gave up just one thing each month?

To show our gratitude to the LAPS Foundation for 14 years of support, Los Alamos Public Schools is celebrating Foundation Appreciation Week Dec. 2-6.

As 2019 comes to a close, LAPS asks the community to consider giving up one thing a month and instead use that money to make a valuable donation to further the mission of the LAPS Foundation at all schools.

While Foundation Appreciation Week is meant to highlight the impact the Foundation has on the schools, the community is encouraged to donate at any time.

The LAPS Foundation is a non-profit organization that receives funding through generous donations from individuals and organizations. The LAPS Foundation has been an important funding source for Los Alamos Public Schools since 2005, and they need your help in order to continue supporting students, teachers and staff at the elementary schools, middle school and high school.

Did you know that giving up one coffee shop or bagel run a month and instead donating that money to the Foundation could help a teacher purchase a valuable teaching resource like math manipulatives for hands-on learning? Donating just $5 per month to the Foundation can make a significant impact for teachers and students in LAPS. Here’s what an even greater gift could do:

  • $25/month = $300/year could buy a set of educational magazines like “National Geographic Explorer” for an entire grade at one elementary school; and
  • $50/month = $600/year could fund the purchase of a new 3D printer for a school.

It’s easy to set up a monthly recurring donation charged to a credit card at lapsfoundation.com/appreciation. Not looking to commit to a monthly donation? One-time donations of any amount are gratefully accepted on the same web page.

With the holidays coming up, you may be looking for ideas of how to show your appreciation to your child’s teacher(s). Why not consider an alternative gift by making a donation to the LAPS Foundation in a teacher’s name? When you donate at lapsfoundation.com/appreciation, you have the option to have a certificate sent to a teacher notifying them of the donation made on their behalf. The money raised ensures funds are available throughout the year, which makes a tremendous difference in our schools.

Thank you for your generosity and support of Los Alamos schools through the LAPS Foundation. With your donation, they can continue fulfilling the needs of our schools so students and staff thrive all year.
