Los Alamos Public Schools adopted the Amplify CKLA Reading and Language Arts curriculum which is based on structured literacy. This is the first year for this curriculum in the district’s five elementary schools. Science-based reading instruction includes both foundational skills (e.g., decoding, spelling) and higher-level literacy skills (e.g., reading comprehension, written expression). Through structured literacy all children can become capable and confident readers.
