LAPS News:

The community is invited to join Los Alamos Public Schools in recognizing the district’s School Resource Officers on School Resource Officer Day today, Feb. 15.

LAPS School Resource Officers include Cpl. Amos Smith (Los Alamos High School), Cpl. James Keane (Los Alamos Middle School), Cpl. Samantha Terrazas (Barranca Mesa Elementary, Mountain Elementary, Chamisa Elementary), Cpl. Joseph (Joey) Robinson (Aspen Elementary,  Piñon Elementary) and Sgt. Chris Ross (SRO/CLU Sgt).

“We are fortunate to have School Resource Officers available at all of our school sites,” Superintendent Jennifer Guy said. “We appreciate the work that they do each and every day to keep our schools and our students safe.”

The National Association of School Resource Officers encourages schools and communities to recognize the valuable work of their school resource officers during National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day Feb. 15.

“We established National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day in 2022, after receiving frequent inquiries from schools around the country regarding the most appropriate day to recognize their SROs,”  NASRO Executive Director Mo Canady said. “We encourage schools and communities to take time Feb. 15 to let their SROs know how much they appreciate the work these officers do to bridge gaps between law enforcement and youth and to keep schools safe.”
