LAPS News:
Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) Superintendent Dr. Jose Delfin is on administrative leave.
School Board President Melanie Colgan issued the following statement today regarding his leave of absence.
“The duration of that leave is unknown at this time. The Board has appointed Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Guy to serve as Acting Superintendent in Dr. Delfin’s absence,” Colgan said. “While we cannot disclose details of an employee’s personnel matters, Los Alamos Public Schools is appreciative of our community’s support as we work to create the best possible learning environment for our students.”
Editor’s note: The Los Alamos School Board voted in January to hire Delfin as superintendent to replace Dr. Kurt Steinhaus who was appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Legislature to serve as Secretary of the New Mexico Public Education Department. LAPS hosted a welcome reception for Delfin April 18 at the Sullivan Fieldhouse. Delfin began transitioning into his superintendent role a few weeks later.
