LAPS News:

Mountain Elementary School Principal Dr. Brian Grass announced last week that he will be leaving Los Alamos Public Schools in September. Former Los Alamos Middle School Principal Suzanne Lynne will step in as the new Mountain Elementary School principal effective Sept. 16.

“Dr. Grass has been a tremendous asset to the Mountain community and will be greatly missed,” Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Guy said. “We wish him the very best in his next venture.”

Dr. Grass and his family will be relocating to California where he has accepted a leadership role with Desert Sands Unified School District in La Quinta.

“I will miss Los Alamos,” Dr. Grass said. “I feel that this has become a second home for me. I do not regret a minute of my time here. Mountain school is such an incredible place, that I would not have traded this leadership experience for anything in the world. I feel so much richer for having spent these years in this amazing place.”

Lynne is an experienced leader, having served as principal at Chamisa Elementary School before taking over as principal at Los Alamos Middle School. She also was a teacher and reading specialist for many years in the district including the time she spent teaching at Mountain.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support Mountain School during this transitional time,” Lynne said. “I have worked at Mountain in the past and both my children attended Mountain. It is a fabulous school and I am honored to be a part of it again. I look forward to working with the students, staff and families in the Mountain School community this year.”

LAPS will work closely with Mountain students, staff and families to ensure a smooth transition.
