Los Alamos Public Schools announces the retirement of the following staff members:
CERTIFIED STAFF
- Roger Scot Carmody is retiring after 16 years of service as an elementary teacher at Chamisa and Pinon elementary schools. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame in English.
- Carol Hermes is retiring after 19 years of service as an elementary and special education teacher at Pinon and Chamisa elementary schools. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from New Mexico State University in Elementary & Special Education and earned her Master’s Degree from Lesley University in Technology in Education.
- Terry Hiller is retiring after 30 years of service as a physical education teacher at Los Alamos High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Idaho in Physical Education.
- Laura Gallimore is retiring after 29 years of service as an elementary teacher at Aspen, Pinon and Chamisa elementary schools. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from New Mexico State University in Elementary Education.
- Christy Marcotte is retiring after 25 years of service as a high school teacher at Los Alamos High School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Kansas in Latin and earned her Master’s Degree from St. Johns College in Liberal Arts.
- Marcella Nogar is retiring after 28 years of service as an elementary teacher at Pinon elementary school. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from New Mexico State University in Education, earned her first Master’s Degree from University of New Mexico in Elementary Education, and her second Master’s Degree from Lesley University in Technology Education.
- Judith Rhode Goggin is retiring after 14 years of service as a pre-school teacher at both Barranca and Pinon elementary school. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Wisconsin State University in Elementary Education.
- Linda Seelau is retiring after nine years of service as a Math, GATE and Language Arts Teacher at Los Alamos Middle School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from New York State University in Secondary English Education.
- Jane Shumaker is retiring after 21 years of service as a secretary at Los Alamos High School and the Central Office and a social studies and language arts teacher at Los Alamos Middle School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Western New Mexico University in History and English.
- Rebecca Sims is retiring after 23 years of service as an instructional assistant at Pinon Elementary School and an elementary and kindergarten teacher at Chamisa Elementary School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from New Mexico State University in Home Economics.
- Sharon Sole is retiring after 13 years of service as a special education teacher at Pinon Elementary School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Cameron University in History and English.
- Rebecca Steritz is retiring after 22 years of service as a GATE and special education teacher at Barranca Elementary School. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Education and earned both of her Master’s Degree from California State University in Art and Crafts.
- Patricia Walls is retiring after 6 years of service as an Elementary Teacher at both Barranca and Chamisa Elementary. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Fresno State College of Art.

- Rick Dopke is retiring after 12 years of service as a maintenance technician and assistant coordinator of facilities in the Facilities Department.
- Patricia Graves is retiring after 17 years of service as a clerk and secretary at Aspen Elementary School and an accounting technician-purchasing with the Business Services Department.
- Margaret Jenkins is retiring after 21 years of service as an accounting technician, benefits specialist, and payroll supervisor with Business Services.
- John McHale is retiring after 16 years of service as a locksmith in the Facilities Department.
- Gloria Pecos is retiring after 18 years of service as a clerk and instructional assistant at Chamisa Elementary School and Los Alamos Middle School.
- Wendy Tiee is retiring after 18 years as a computer assistant and technology specialist with the Technology Department.
- Juanito Vasquez is retiring after 14 years of service as a night custodian at Mountain and Aspen elementary schools.
