This Friday, April 18, thousands of participants from our community and surrounding areas will take part in the annual pilgrimage to El Santuario de Chimayó.
This sacred tradition brings a significant increase in pedestrian activity along highways not typically frequented by foot traffic, including N.M. 502, N.M. 501, U.S. 84/285 and N.M. 76.
Motorists: Please be vigilant and exercise caution while traveling these routes, as many pilgrims will be walking along the highways throughout the day and into the evening.
Pedestrians: For your safety, wear bright-colored clothing, carry flashlights or flashing red lights if walking after dark, and always remain aware of your surroundings.
This annual journey is a meaningful tradition for many, and by working together, we can ensure a safe pilgrimage for all.
